Post 6 - Family Day Long Weekend!

This is Andrew.  It's my turn to make an entry.  So, last weekend was the Family Day long weekend, and we were able to take a trip to Cardston with Julie's Mom and her little sister Mary.  We left late on Friday afternoon and stopped in Airdre to eat at the Pita Pit just off the highway, which was really good.  Anyways, we got into Cardston pretty late and stayed at Julie's Grandparent's house, which is epmpty because they are both in an old folks home.  On Saturday morning we were both able to go visit my Grandmother, Edna, who is looking good and apparently feeling well enough to plan a trip to Utah for my cousin James' wedding.  It was good to see her.  It always lifts my spirits a bit to see that she is doing well.  After that we all went to Waterton to go cross-country skiing up to Cameron Lake.  It was snowing a little, but it was actually pretty nice weather for skiing.

Just starting out.
On the trail, after the long climb.

Aren't we just the cutest?!
It's more comfortable than you might think.

At Cameron Lake.  Always super windy there, but pretty.
Saturday evening we went back to Cardston and ate some stuff that Julie brought with us, then we all went to visit Julie's Grandmother, Zelma.  We visited with her for a couple of hours, but it's getting harder and harder for her to breath these days, so she gets tired fairly quickly.  Sunday morning we went to church with the Low's at the old folks home and then we stayed and had lunch with them.  The food wasn't very good, but it was good to sit down to a meal with Julie's grandparents.  Grandpa Low is pretty out of it.  He'll talk to you for a really long time, but you'll never figure out what it is that he's talking about.  Luckily he's not in the Dementia Lodge alone.  He has his twin brother in there with him, so that helps keep him grounded a bit.

Sunday afternoon we had time to just relax and read and stuff.  Julie's Uncle and Aunt who live in Cardston invited us over for dinner, and then we went and visited Zelma until she started getting tired.  Monday morning we went to the temple, which was one of my highlights of the trip.  It was only Mary's third time in the temple, and her first time in the Cardston temple.  After that we cleaned and packed, then managed to visit all our grandparents quickly before driving home.  It's nice to get away.  It was a great weekend.

Post 5 - Valentines Week!

This Valentines Day I work late and then very early the next morning, so Andrew took me out last night and then informed me that there will be a little something every day until Valentines day!  (Hence the name Valentines WEEK)  What a great guy!  So last night we went to the Melting Pot, which is somewhere I've always wanted to go but it is SO expensive that I always felt guilty about wanting to go!  It was delicious!!  It is definately a place where you need to have a lot of time to kill - we were there for 3 hours!  Also, good to know if you're planning on going there - for each of the fondues they bring you MORE of whatever you want (with the exception of the meats and cheesecake), so you can used up all your cheese/chocolate etc.   Our server didn't tell us this, so we were trying to put tons of stuff on our dippers so we wouldn't waste the fondue!!!  Until the server serving the people next to us informed them of this fun little fact and we eased off!  I'm excited to find out what the rest of the week will bring!
Andrew trying to get as much cheese fondue on his bread as possible!

The Flaming Turtle chocolate fondue!  SO good!

Post #4 - Crafty time with Mary!

So a few weeks ago my sister Mary and I decided that we needed to try and do a weekly "sister date" before she leaves for her mission in April!  Last week we went to the fabric store (with our mom as well) to try and get fabric to make skirt extenders.  This week we made accessories for Mary for her mission!  Since she is going to San Antonio Texas, she thinks she'll get really hot in the summer (and she will - I've lived in Texas and I know!!!) so cute headbands were the main attraction!

DQ blizzard cups for a treat!

Such variety!

We also found out that Andrew didn't get an interview offer in Calgary, which had been our first choice!  Sad day!  But on the bright side I went to a Dental Conference on Saturday and won the "Grand Prize" which is a nights stay at the Fantasyland Hotel in a Theme room!   I was quite exited about it because I have always wanted to stay there!  (But it costs around $250 a night, so that was never going to happen - but now it will!  Yay!)
