Post 19 - Catching up on the Summer - August

We lucked out and got to go to Waterton for almost a full week this year!  I was super happy about it because we're not going to make it there for the next (at least) 4 years while we are in Australia.  My sisters family was visiting from Philly and got to come too!  Even better!

The first day we were there was Sunday, so church!  Then on the Monday Andrew and a bunch of the more fit cousins climbed Old Chief.  Now Andrew and I are tied, both having climbed it twice!

No Old Chief for me, my big goal was to make it up Bears Hump!
And I did!  It was really hard....  sad, I know!  But I like to think I have a good excuse!  It was also Eastons first time and he did great!  (Beat me up there!)

The view is just so pretty!

We also drove up to Red Rock Canyon and scrambled up the creek.  There was a massive log jam that we wiggled under and then over, Easton was with us too and again, did super well!

Natural waterslide!

Andrew was brave and dunked!

On the way back we saw some bears!  This one was a blonde!

Picking Saskatoon Berries, poor Easton thought they were going to taste better!

After Waterton, I had decided that I really wanted to go over Logans Pass, since again, it would be a few years until our next chance!  I love that drive, its the prettiest!

The rest of August was spent packing up our apartment and hanging out with Sarah and Easton and Lucy!  I guess we were having so much fun we forgot to take pictures while they were here!  Oh well...

Post 18 - Catching up on the Summer - Late July

No excuses no excuses!  Well actually I do have an excuse and that is that my sister and her family were visiting and we were moving....  but that was in August!  So no excuse for missing out on the rest of July!  We didn't do much but work, and I managed to get some crafting in!

These are a few pieces of old ugly furniture I wanted to refinish!  It was my first attempt and I think they turned out well!  They would have gone in the baby's room if we were staying in Canada!

My sister Mary (who is serving in the Texas San Antonio Mission) requested that we send her a journal, and even better?  A home made journal!  I covered chipboard in burlap, lined the inside with chevron canvas, used planner refills for the paper, used grommets and hemp to bind it, with stretchy lace and a large mustard yellow resin flower cabochon to hold the journal closed!  I think it turned out super cute and she loved it!!

She also requested purse organizers for her and her companion - I love these things!  So handy!

Andrew and I also managed to do our July date!  This was very exciting because even though we have these envelopes for every month with pre-paid date ideas in them, we've had a hard time doing them!  This one was extra special though because it was a re-creation of our first date way back in 2006!  Crazy how time flies!  We went down to the Kinsmen Pitch and Putt to play some golf, then headed over to the Marble Slab on Whyte Ave for some ice cream, followed by walking, eating and talking.  It was nice, I love this guy!

You can see my little baby bump!
